WHAT IS A ROOT CANAL?
Root canal therapy is a procedure in which inflamed or infected pulp is removed from a tooth in order to prolong the lifespan of the tooth. When this pulp is removed, this area is carefully cleaned and disinfected before being filled and sealed. Having a root canal will eliminate bacteria from the infected pulp chamber of the tooth and prevent infection from reoccurring.

Despite old sayings about root canals, modern root canal therapy is very similar to a regular dental filling and are often completed in one or two appointments depending on the condition of the tooth.
